*Breaks out the champagne* My 70-paged thesis draft is out!
The paper has been very carefully done.
It will provide insights into various (media and non-media) determinants behind the unusual March 8, 2008 Malaysian general election, and find out if the much-hyped new media (blogs, online news portal, SMS’es, etc) has played a critical role in the political “tsunami”.
Once finalised, I will digitise the whole paper into .pdf extension so that those interested can download it.
Mai siao siao wei… It took me almost six months to complete okay? And I also put my heart and soul into this research hoping it can contribute to the field of electoral studies (pardon my utmost innocence)!
Happy! I will also forward my paper to each to each and every of my lecturers and tutors to show off my research effort, ha!
For someone who has a passion in political science like me, this paper means a lot to me. I really hope to engage in more researches in the future should I have the opportunity. If anyone of you would like to conduct a joint research make sure to jio me.
I’m writing this not only to inform the progress of my thesis but also to rant about some UTAR staff members who need a pile of shit flung towards their face.
At the end of the class the other day, I wanted to return the laptop and projector borrowed under my name to the ICT centre.
I climbed up the third floor just to notice the absence of the ICTC man. I waited for ten minutes there but he never returned.
Fine, I thought, maybe later. I wonder why he was so lazy/irresponsible to even leave a contact when he was away. The equipments on my hands cost a few thousand ringgit and he dared leaving without notice.
As I had classes at another block, PC (the earlier block being at PD), I had to take along those equipments with me. Within two hours, I went back and forth between PC and PD several times just to return the equipments.
YET THE DUMBASS WAS STILL NOWHERE TO BE SEEN HOR.
CHAO CIBAI, I thought. He made me run like a cow for nothing! I’m a student who paid my fees okay, not a UTAR worker!
If my student ID was not with them, I might as well bring them home for personal use, or maybe throw them into the bush and pretend I never took them right?
Angered, I called UTAR and asked them to connect me to the ICT department. So they did.
When I thought I could finally talk to the right people, they gave me all sorts of unacceptable excuses ranging from “…but we are from PA” to “The phone of PH ICTC broke down” to “We cannot contact ABC (the name of the ICTC man in charge)”.
CHICKEN BYE MAN! I got so angry I had to scream at that cipiat telephonist in front of so many people. I was like, “SO HOW? YOU WANT ME TO BRING IT BACK HOME??” and they went silent.
Why is UTAR staff acting as if they are so kind of government bureaus ah??? They get paid because of us students who pay our bills; what kind of an attitude are they showing?
It was only after I got really mad at them that they offered me a quick solution – to allow me to drop the equipments at the ICT centre at PC and promise they would send my student ID over.
Lesson learnt: never be polite to people who treat you like shit.
