Twitter was experiencing downtime at 10pm or so last nite due to a confirmed Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Attack. It was no wonder I could hardly log into my Twitter account last nite.It was only two hours ago that Twitter page access had started going back to normal latency. Right now, although the site is back up and appears to be working fine, the Twitter team is still “continuing to defend against and recover from this attack” (source).
Blyon says Twitter has only one network provider (NTT), which is makes itself an easy target for DDoS. Twitter now has over 1 million total users.
On another related news, John Quincy Adams is reported to be way ahead of his time. The 6th U.S. president’s archives recently discovered his bite-sized diary that looks a lot like Tweet.
Update at 2pm (Fri): Twitter page load time still slow.
