Can you exist virtually?

Working from the comfort of your home or country and getting your work done while you are busy managing your business or rather setting it up… The challenge here is to exist in the mind of a remote or virtual employee or employer and produce results as per the workforce requirement, which in turn helps incrementing the revenue or profits remarkably.

The challenge out here is bigger as it requires constant efforts to improve communication, taking it each day to next level; also managing the technological barriers.

Ease of technology and work specialisation in particular continents has facilitated the urge for creating virtual offices or rather virtual employees. The other factors being pricing structure which reduces to a considerable extent, no infrastructural investments is required, the virtual employee can work from the comfort of home saving the travel time.

Distributing small assignments at a time keeps the youth of work alive in the employee thus generating 100% returns of the work assigned and in a manner facilitates proper follow up of the work assigned by virtual employer.

The main emphasis while working on virtual kind of employer-employee relation is based on few principles. Communication, building trust, maintaining sense of team work, creating synchronous communication methods, etc are few of the basic ones. The more you communicate the more you benefit.

Communication can be through emails, calendaring capabilities, Instant Messaging (IM’s), etc. Emails are easier and thorough way of keeping track and helps keep communication very concise.

Is it an easy task to take up a job which sounds interesting and invites new challenges, practically everyday? Well the answer is affirmative if you can belong to a VIRTUAL world…

Part of the reason why I haven’t been blogging for so long, is because I have been taking my sweet time, after over four years of hectic study, work, and engagement in other activities, to honeymoon a little in a new environment.

It’s a small town almost as humble as Kuching, where I hail from.

Kampar.

As an experiencer, I get easily thrilled and culture shocked over new stuff. While some of my students are calling me crazy for loving a small town like this, I think they’re crazy for not even liking it!

We might not have a cinema here, or a shopping center up to par with those in KL.

But we have got unpolluted air, pretty scenery, several lakes to fish at, modern campuses of UTAR and KTAR, nice food, Gua Tempurung, and a few hot springs here.

Okay, maybe I should stop being such a preacher already. It’s really sad to have to nag like Kanye West.

Over the weekend, which was also my Raya break, I decided to cycle all the way from the new town of Kampar (where UTAR and my place are located at) to the old town to shoot some footages for my first short film — or documentary film to be exact — this year.
