This is not an ad-vertorial.
I have just pre-registered and activated my Yes account and obtained a 018 number!
Yes is a Malaysian mobile Internet service with voice that claims itself to be4G and have a speed three to five times faster than 3G.
However, that needs to be quantified, because their 4G service for university students won’t be rolled out yet until early next year. At least that is true for UTAR.
Besides UTAR, other universities in partnership with Yes include KTAR, UTM, UPM, UM, and USM. Yes is currently in a stage of pre-registering students.
Upon registration, a user will be given 300MB of Yes 4G Internet access per month.
What can students do with the 300MB 4G Internet access:
- Visit 400 webpages
- Send 2000 emails
- Download 70 tracks of music
Exceed the 300MB? Top up lah!
How did I pre-register and activate my account?
- I obtained my persona/Yes ID and password from the Yes booth at UTAR’s student pavillian. Otherwise,
- Log into your UTAR e-mail
- Click on the e-mail sent by YTL Communications
- Take down your Yes ID, password and 018 number
- Logged in to this page with Yes ID and password
- Updated details under the “Activate now” section
- Done!
The 4G USB dongle will only be available early next year, so I will have to wait until then to be able to purchase one.
The price of the dongle is RM99 (one-time) but the I was told by the Yes guy that it will be converted into RM10 of access credit (equivalent to 300MB) for 10 months.
On top of this, students also get to have 3ooMB of access credit per months, for three years until graduation!
If students opt not to purchase the dongle, they could download a Yes application (don’t know much about this so I don’t bother to provide details) to make use of their credit.
They could call or send sms’es out from the Yes application.
Area of coverage? Major cities including Perak, Penang, and the Klang Valley, as the Yes people claimed. But how true it is — we have yet to see!

It’s crazy.
It feels like just yesterday when I blogged about the newly released BlackBerry Bold 9800. And now, ladies and gents…
The high-end BlackBerry Bold 9780!

First let me illustrate the difference between the difference between 9780 and 9800:

To put it simple, 9780 comes with the all-new BlackBerry 6 operating system (OS), which is a total upgrade of 9800′s BlackBerry 5 OS.
With such an upgrade, users can now surf various websites faster with a richer and more engaging interface.

The 5.0 megapixel camera and 512MB flash memory, expandable up to 32GB with a microSD card, sure will inspire people to cam-whore more lor.
Okaylah, maybe not so kua zhang.
But users can now carry all their videos and music wherever you go. Why need an additional MP3 player if you could have so many things in one platform and risk losing it?
The most important thing about the 9780 is that it has the longest battery life among all the BlackBerry phones!

It allows up to 6 hours of talk time and 38 hours of music playback time. Crazy eh?
Anyway, Celcom was the first in Malaysia to bring us the all-new Blackberry Bold 9780 during its launch at the GoMobile Expo last week.
The recommended retail price (RRP) of the 9780 is RM1,888. And Celcom being Celcom — they sold it at RM1,188 at the GoMobile Expo!
You could check out Celcom’s plans here.
When you sign up today either with Celcom Exec postpaid plans or Celcom Biz, you will be entitled to a free softskin worth RM48.
