After News Corp declared it was ready to sell MySpace in February, the deal is sealed and the social network has been sold for $35 million to advertising network Specific Media.
The sale, however, came in much, much lower than what News Corp had originally hoped for: a staggering amount of $100 million.
In 2005, News Corp bought Myspace from the original owners for $580 million but its traffic was decreasing in recent years.

Meanwhile, it is reported that News Corp will hold up a 5% to 8% stake in Myspace and Justin Timberlake, who starred in The Social Media – a movie about Facebook, will also hold an ownership stake.
CEO Mike Jones, who will assist the transition over the next two months before leaving the company, says a significant portion of the current staff would be cut.
Specific Media and Justin Timberlake are poised to focus the social network on entertainment and “socially-activated advertising campaigns” in the future.

Myspace users, changes are coming!
