Unlike other social networks, the power of Twitter lies in its simplicity. Twitter is a great platform for companies and brands to reach relevant interest groups and market their products.

The following are some tactics which can be used for marketing on Twitter.
Identify Target Market
It is important to establish your target audience for your campaign or business. For instance, if you are a company which sells music, your target audience would include people interested in entertainment and music.
Acquire Twitter Followers
You can begin by following influential people in your niche who have large Twitter followings. When looking for followers, keep in mind that quantity on Twitter is vital.
As your Twitter following grows, the way you interact with your audience has to change since you cannot interact on a personal basis with everyone.
Develop and Engage Twitter Followers in Your Niche
Twitter offers tools which can help you find followers in your specific vertical market or niche. The important thing is to ensure that you acquire followers who have an interest in your niche.
Share Others’ Content
Sharing other people’s content on Twitter is a great way of getting their attention. You could inform them that you have just tweeted their content or post by adding your Twitter name.

This sharing is part of connection and engagement that will get you noticed. If you ask that person to retweet your post or link in future, it is likely that they will be willing to help.
Automate Tweeting
As you find influential tweeters and bloggers in your particular niche, you might want to share and tweet their content to your followers. You can use Twitterfeed.com to automate this.
Tweet Inspiring and Topical Content
As you discover great content on blogs, Slideshare or YouTube, share such content with your followers. This includes posts written by influential bloggers in your niche.
Automate Content Retweeting
Your blog post archive usually contains useful posts that you might want to share once in a while. When tweeting your posts, remember to include #tags which ensure the tweet is delivered to #lists.
Run a Competition
Twitter competitions can be very effective for driving traffic to your site, improving your search engine rankings and even increasing your sales.
Use Twitter as a Focus Group
Companies pay research agencies a lot of money to get their customers’ opinions. Twitter is a great place for listening and learning. Unlike research agencies, Twitter offers instant market feedback at no cost. Collecting information is very simple.
