However the discounted rate is still undecided and will be revealed soon.

The public can purchase the tablet at a special price of RM999 for the first 999 units. Reports have it that the 1Mpad can now be done online, but a search on the Internet returned no relevant link to the purchase site.
Let’s look at the features of the Android-based 1Mpad:
- A 7-inch tablet
- Runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3
- Features a 3-megapixel back camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera
- Has WiFi and 3G data capabilities

In fact, Malaysia is not the first country that releases its own tablet.
In October 2011, India released its own budget tablet, called the Aakash, aimed at lifting the rural poor out of poverty.
The Aakash tablet is being sold for $45 (merely approx. RM150) to the general public, with subsidised $35 versions selling to students and teachers.

The Aakash is equipped with an Android 2.2 OS, 7-inch touch screen, a pair of USB ports, and 256 megabytes of RAM, according to the New York Times.
Thailand has also, recently, officially inked a deal with Chinese tablet manufacturer Shenzhen Scope to bring an estimated 1 million tablets to its students aged from 6 to 8 nationwide.
It features Google’s latest Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system, a 7-inch touchscreen, 8GB of storage, 1GB ram and GPS.
The Thailand goverment is paying for $81 (approx. RM270) per unit from Shenzhen Scope.
