Microsoft Great Family Time Contest

FANTABULOUS NEWS Malaysian PC upgraders!

If you have just installed Windows 7 or Microsoft Office 2010, don’t just hog away the computer to enjoy the features and forget ONE last step!

It’s such a waste lor if you don’t know this.

Okay, see the car in grey in the image below?

Microsoft Great Family Time Contest

That’s a Nissan Grand Livina.

Now for your very LAST step…

If you could just count the total number of family members in the picture (hint: don’t forget the guy with the blurb!) and go to the Great Family Time Contest page to submit your MOST precise count, you may be driving home an A GRAND Livina!!!

An actual one and not virtual like in the picture ok! LOL.

Besides a Grand Livina, other prizes are ALL crazily lucrative stuff – you can check for yourself:

I mean SERIOUSLY??

Well, just a gentle reminder though – the contest page will ask for the certificate of authenticity and product details so don’t you simply buy anything unoriginal from the SS2 night market and try to claim the prize ok!

The contest is only eligible for copies purchased between 15th October 2011 and 15th January 2012. So it seems I may have missed my opportunity leh… le sigh. *cough Christmas gift cough*

Anyway if you think that is all, it’s not!

If you purchased the Microsoft Office 2010 Bonus Box now, you also get to carry home a FREE Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000!

Each purchase comes with 1 gift, so 5 purchases got 5 gifts!!!

SYIOK?

Is it like an early Christmas for Microsoft or what!

Speaking of Christmas, there will be two Microsoft booths – #215 and #434 – setup at the PIKOM PC Fair from 2 to 4 December (the first weekend of December), so you can just drop by while doing your Christmas shopping at KLCC.

This time round Microsoft is making a great effort to revolve its latest multiproduct campaign around the family theme.

Let’s take a look at some funny yet heart-warming ads by Microsoft to see why it would so daringly position their products as a family thing:

From surfing Youtube to getting on Twitter to managing finances to planning a travel to Bali, Microsoft products pretty much make sure they do ALL OF THEM for you and EVERYONE ELSE in the family!

The idea is that Microsoft products CAN bring family members together and closer!

Those ads you just saw are only Microsoft’s overseas counterparts.

Our local film producer Pete Teo (the guy behind the “15Malaysia” video series) will produce a series of 5 viral videos celebrating the Malaysian family due out in December.

So keep checking back this page up for more upcoming Microsoft promos.

I wanted to end this post but part of me feels super tempted to spill more beans on Microsoft’s upcoming promo!

Anyway…

Just be ready for Microsoft’s branded content “Windows to MY family” and webisodes! They’re coming.

Alright, till the next time people.

Mozilla Firefox 4 Released

I just got my browser upgraded to Mozilla Firefox 4, and now I’m a happy man!

I have been a fan of Mozilla Firefox for close to EIGHT YEARS now and I’m still in love with it like it’s new.

HURRAY FOR MOZILLA FIREFOX 4 RELEASE!

I changed from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox some eight years ago because of the former’s ridiculously high loading time every time I opened the browser.

Admittedly, what is better than Mozilla Firefox has to be Chrome because of its even faster loading time and simplicity. However I ditched Chrome merely two hours after using it simply because I couldn’t get used to it.

Well, let’s see what Mozilla Firefox offers this time.

The first thing I noticed to be different is its interface. In some ways the interface resembles that of Chrome.

I don’t know whether the company had gotten inspiration from Chrome or what, but the interface looks much simpler and “clean” in this newly released Mozilla Firefox 4.

In this version, the “Stop” button is only visible when the websites are being loaded, and it shares the same position as the “Refresh” button. Don’t worry it’s not gone!

The “Refresh” button has been rearranged right beside the URL box.

The “Home” button, which I always point to yahoo.com, is now alongside the search box.

Good thing is that my bookmarks are still maintained at the tab below the URL box despite the upgrade, and this is  super important to me.

One of the reasons why I refuse to use Chrome is because I couldn’t find such a feature there.

Mozilla Firefox 4 has now improved a lot in terms of loading speed and that was the very first thing I immediately noticed after the upgrade.

In terms of bug fix, Mozilla has patched eight flaws, including a major programming oversight that left the browser  vulnerable to attack.
