You are reading an MD 2.0 (make money online) entry.
I do not know John Chow personally and I had not even heard of his websites prior to this.
That’s why when Vincent Chow did a review on JohnChow.com — I was dumbfounded at first (I had not read the dislaimer).
I was like, “WTF lah, how come everyone in this Chow family got a weblog one, summore with a domain name.”
I was about to ignore Vincent’s entry. But this line caught my attention at the right time:
Well if I could get a linkback off popular JohnChow.com by just writing a review of it, why not give it a shot? What more to say the best review wins a MiniTV USB!
So I’m trying to give this review a more objective approach although I am frankly still unfamiliar with JohnChow.com. According to what I understand about the website, JohnChow.com is one of those techno blogs you can find over the net — more or less like liewcf.com.
While liewcf.com is bombarded with advertisements, JohnChow.com has to be the cleaner version of it (nothing against liewcf.com — I’m a frequent reader of Mr. Liew’s website). I think this is an advantage and also a disadvantage to JohnChow.com. First of all I don’t misclick on any advertisement as often as I do on liewcf.com (although I know this is bloggers’ revenue). And contrary to that, my first impression on JohnChow.com is that it lacks liveliness! I think providing more colourful graphics in a post would help.
Checking on the details about John Chow gave me a shock — because Mr Chow is also the mastermind behind The Tech Zone (run on April 1999), which now has a PageRank (PR) of six over ten (6/10)!Right now, The Tech Zone has over 10,000 unique hits and 20,000 page views per day! Can you believe this Mr. Chow?! *sweat*
Anyways back to the topic. JohnChow.com was originally called The Weird World of John Chow, which is now changed to John Chow dot Com The Miscellaneous Ramblings of a Dot Com Mogul. Although I have no idea its orientation at that time, I guess it is either Mr. Chow’s personal blog or a more personal version of The Tech Zone. Right now, Feedburner indicates that JohnChow.com has over 1200 subscribers and the rapid growth of JohnChow.com took Mr. Chow only two friggin’ years!! *more sweat*
John Chow
Mr. Chow says on this blog that “besides taking care of the day to day business at The Tech Zone, I can be seen riding my bike around Vancouver.” And this explains why on the categories of his weblog, Cars isn’t absent.
