If you have a wi-fi router at home you may have come across situations when you experienced a hard time in recalling the password for the connection. No wonder, many of us have been looking for a useful accessory to bail us out from this problem.

You must have noted that Windows remembers Wi-Fi which saves us a lot of time. But you can actually do a little more by exporting the saved passwords and transfer them to other computers.
There are a number of applications to do this job for us but the most well known are Last Pass, WirelessKeyView and Windows.
LastPass
LastPass is very highly rated and reliable software that is capable of generating passwords also. It manages all kinds of passwords and guarantees 100% security each time. People have access to numerous online resources and have plenty of user accounts.
Many of us avoid using secure and strong passwords as it becomes a difficult task to remember them. With LastPass remembering passwords becomes an effortless job.
The passwords are stored on the servers of LastPass and it is only accessible when the user tries to access his secure LastPass account. In fact, the LastPass password is the last password that you need to remember in your lifetime.
Windows
Windows is the preferred choice for many as it has an inbuilt system for backing up Wi-Fi settings. Though Bill Gates is the most spammed person but still Windows is not that vulnerable.
The main drawback with Windows is that you can only import one Wi-Fi settings at a given time. This is a bit of a dampener. First you need to open the Network and Sharing center from the list which of available Wi-Fi networks. Then click on “Manage Wireless Networks” to view the saved Wi-Fi networks.
You can use the right-click menu to view the “Properties” option for selecting a specific network. The next step would be to click on “Copy this …flash drive” link and you will be asked for a flash drive. Once the process gets over you can insert a pen drive into another computer and double-click on “setupSNK.exe” to import the network setting which has been saved.
WirelessKeyView
WirelessKeyView is very useful free utility software that will aid you in case you have loads of saved Wi-Fi passwords. This application will allow viewing the passwords at the same time and exporting them to a text/HTML file.
But first you need to download the utility and double-click on its .exe file and you will get to see a list of the saved Wi-Fi passwords. Then select the networks you want to export and use the “Save the Selected Items” options in the File menu so that you can export it to a text file.
However, each tool has its own set of pros and cons. The Windows method is good if you intend to share the settings for a Wi-Fi network while WirelessKeyView will save the passwords in a text file making it ideal for printing. LastPass is more suitable for advanced users. But the decision of using a particular utility will eventually rest upon you.
