Negative Effects Of Deportation To Families
These days the number of people that are living in the country without having all the documents are being deported back to their origin. The act has led to various effects especially to the family members that are left behind. The following are effects of the consequences of the deportation process on the people that are left behind.
Among the consequences are that more children are ripped off of their parents and they have to be raised by foster parents. When those parents that do not have the proper documents to prove that they are citizens are deported back to their countries. These kids that are citizens in the country end up being raised by other parents. Being separated from parents and ending up in the hands of people that are not even related to the kids is a traumatic experience to the kids. The number of single parents that are raising their families all by themselves has greatly increased. If one parent is deported one family is left to deal with all the needs of the family. This is a devastating experience more so in this hard economic times where both parents need to chip in and provide for the family. The parent that is left behind is also left with the task of dealing with the immigration services and bring back their partners back in the country.
The other problem that families are facing is that the parent that is left behind has to face financial difficulties since the other partner is not available. As said earlier on we are living in hard economic times where money is not easy to come by. Therefore when one member of the family has left, and they were the one that was providing for the family; the other family members are left to bear the problem all by themselves. The fourth consequence is that people live in constant fear of being separated from their loved ones. Kids that have seen the horrifying scene of their parents getting deported have to live in constant fear thinking that their parents will be deported too. worrying too much is not healthy, and it can cause health problems such as intense anxiety episodes.
Another effect is that families that have had prior experience of deportation are afraid of facing the law. When they are facing a threat they are afraid of calling help from the law enforcers because they feat they will do the same to their families. They are also afraid of seeking help from medical facilities because they fear that revealing a lot of personal information will jeopardize their freedom. For this reason they do not go to hospitals which is risky for their health.
Children from families that have family members that have been deported either a family member or a sibling are more likely to perform poorly in school. It has also been proved that family members are likely to show symptoms of mental health problems.
